Pink Lake, Senegal

Pink Lake

The easiest route to this amazing pink lake is by taxi. The water which is only amazingly pink during the winter is an interesting and picturesque place. You can find salt collected manually from the bottom of the lake is piled up for drying. The water can be a murky brown and smelly. In spite of that, there are people who find it irresistible to still take a dip. The lake is so concentrated with salt that you can reach down and grab some dirt and find that half of what you have is salt.

This makes floating effortless. Many find this to be an experience and if you can overlook the murkiness, there is fresh water nearby where you can soak yourself to clear the salt and grit.
